Atlanta’s Aquino 29 home runs – 61 stolen bases
One more home run and he’ll make history
Ronald Acuña Jr. (25-Atlanta) is one home run away from becoming the first player in Major League Baseball (MLB) history to reach 30 home runs and 60 RBI in a single season.
Acuña Jr. went 4-for-5 with one home run, one walk, five RBIs and four runs scored in the leadoff spot in the lineup against visiting Colorado at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado, on Monday.
He added two steals on the day to become just the seventh player in history to reach the 20-homer, 60-steal plateau. Only four players in MLB history have reached the 20-homer-60-steal plateau in a single season, including Acuña Jr. Rickey Henderson did it three times (1985, 1986, 1990), Joe Morgan did it twice (1973, 1976), and Eric Davis did it once (1986).
Acuña Jr. drew a walk in the third inning, trailing 1-0 on the day, and with the bases loaded in the top of the fifth with the score tied 2-2, he hit a two-run homer over the wall in right-center field. With the score 5-4 in the seventh, he singled to left-center and stole second base for his 60th stolen base of the season. In the eighth, he led off with a single to right and added a stolen base. In his final at-bat with the bases loaded in the ninth inning, he hit a two-run double to center field to give his team a 14-4 victory.카지노
The National League Most Valuable Player (MVP) candidate needs just one more home run in his remaining 32 games to reach 30 home runs and 60 RBIs. The previous closest player to that mark was Henderson, who hit 28 homers and stole 65 bases in 1990.
“I’m happy to be playing healthy,” said Aquino Jr. who leads the MLB in stolen bases and is third in batting average (.335) this season. My goal is to continue to play consistently and contribute to the team’s success.”
