Kim Sun-ki will get another chance to start after taking the mound as a substitute.
Before the game against Doosan at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on March 23, Kiwoom head coach Hong Won-ki had kind words for Kim, who started the previous day.
“I was very impressed with him, except for the fact that he didn’t have any defensive help,” Hong said.
Kim pitched four innings against Doosan the previous day, allowing five runs (two earned) on eight hits with six strikeouts. Although he gave up five runs, only two of them were actually earned.
Kiwoom is still trying to figure out how to fill the void in the starting rotation after receiving word the day before that Chung will need back surgery. They need a starter for Sunday’s game against Daegu Samsung Electronics, which is likely to be Kim Sun-ki.
“I think Kim Sun-ki is more likely to be the starter for Daegu Samsung,” Hong said.먹튀검증
Rookie Oh Sang-won could also be given a chance to start, but there’s a twist. Oh Sang-won gave up three runs in 1.2 innings against Lotte on April 20. “Today, Kim Sung-jin was out of the lineup with a bad cold,” Hong said, “so I think Oh Sang-won will have to go to the bullpen for a few days.” Kiwoom demoted Kim Sung-jin to the second team and called up Park Joo-hong to the first team.
