The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced on Thursday that it will launch the Women’s Champions League for the 2024-2025 season following an online executive committee meeting.
The AFC has organized the AFC Women’s Club Championship since 2019, which will be expanded into the Champions League from the 2024-2025 season.
The 2022 AFC Women’s Club Championship was split between East and West Asia, with Asian Scholars College of Thailand winning the East Asian title and Sogdiana Zizak of Uzbekistan winning the West Asian title.
The 2024-2025 edition of the AFC Women’s Champions League will initially be an invitational competition, with the AFC announcing at a later date how many teams will compete.

There will be 24 teams competing in the top tier AFC Champions League Elite, while 32 teams will compete in the lower tier AFC Champions League 2.
